- empty 1 liter plastic bottle with cap
- scrap wood that is smooth on one side
- fine sandpaper
- coarse sandpaper
- ball peen hammer
- four 1-1/2 foot pieces of string
- claw hammer, preferably an old one
- two 10-penny nails
- 1 to 2 foot piece of scrap 2x4 lumber
- metal file (for filing metal)
- ruler
- notebook paper
- scissors
- pencil
